Development: a defined policy for research and innovation

The Prime Minister, Anatole Collinet Makosso, received from the Minister of Higher Education, Delphine Edith Emmanuel, on October 5 in Brazzaville, the national policy document on scientific research and technological innovation that contributes to the socio-economic development of the country.

"The document, made available at a time when the country has just launched its National Development Plan to 2026, will serve as a compass," said the head of government, in the presence of the scientific community, partners including agencies of the United Nations system.

According to Minister Delphine Edith Emmanuel, the use of science, technology and innovation systems is imperative to achieve sustainable development goals. It is, in fact, necessary to focus on applied research for development to provide answers to the problems faced by communities. Scientific research and technological innovation are the basis for development in several sectors: environment, renewable energy, tourism, health, education, agriculture and many others. "The implementation of this policy based on the mobilization of human, legal, political and financial resources will be assessed by indicators to the greatest happiness of the Congolese people," according to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovation.

Unesco, which has contributed to the development of this policy of scientific research and technological innovation, is willing to accompany Congo in its implementation, according to its representative, Fatoumata Marega.
